I'll start by saying that I've been getting Brazilian waxes for almost 10 years.
Worst. Experience. Ever.
Unfortunately, I was going out of town the next day and really needed to get it done.
I was waxed by Lala and as we walked into the room, she talked about the sugar waxing and her biggest selling point was the MAJOR difference I would notice when it came to ingrown hairs; she went on and on about how there would be virtually none. Now, throughout the years, I've gotten to the point where I rarely get them to begin with but the idea of even less was what made me try the sugar.
She provided me with a "Privacy towel", which was a sheet of Bounty. That really should've been enough warning that this might be a little on the shoddy side but I kept on. After giving me the Bounty, she didn't LEAVE for me to get undressed! Even my doctor leaves the room and I've known her for YEARS. Completely and totally inappropriate.
Now, to the waxing: It was extremely painful. Tears sprang to my eyes because of the pain and this is coming from someone who has been doing this for YEARS. If it wasn't for the fact that I couldn't leave half done and was going out of town, I would've BOLTED. Throughout the ENTIRE waxing, she commented on how "Strong" my hair was and how my not having waxed for 2 months was the reason behind it being so painful. I'm sorry - I didn't realize I was coming to, not only be waxed, but have my private bits critiqued. I was MORTIFIED.
She waxed every area MULTIPLE times, which we all know is what causes ingrown hairs AND skin irritation. And even with going over the areas as much as she did - she still managed to leave hair!
Every issue she had, she found a way to blame on me. The pain was my fault because I hadn't waxed in 2 months, she wasn't getting the hairs because my hair was so "Strong", and the process was long and drawn out because my body temperature was warmer than usual and melted the wax more quickly.
At the end of this visit, my skin was RAW from her going over and over the same areas (some spots even lost SKIN), she left hair, and managed to make me the most uncomfortable I had ever been at a salon.
My skin stayed raw for 3 days after the waxing. I couldn't get into the water at the beach, on my trip. It was just awful.
She said she had been waxing for 2 years and in my opinion, she needs extensive re-training. She's not ready for the floor and she definitely needs lessons in business etiquette.
On top of it all...you guessed it - INGROWN HAIRS. The most I've ever experienced in my LIFE. It's painful, it's unsightly, it's just plain awful. I don't know how I'm going to remedy it. Angels should really reevaluate what exactly it is they want to be. If they're going to offer services, they need to make sure their people are TRAINED in dealing with ALL types of hair!
