Gym itself looked fine, but I encountered issues with the staff and/business practices. No real way to use the 'trial' membership if your goal is a fitness center for after hours. Trial is only available during staffed hours which are less than a non-24 hour center. Additionally, getting membership and pricing details out of the staff was nebulous at best. I left thinking I could sign up for $39.99 (1 year commitment) and I had to use bank draft, no credit card option. However, I saw on the paperwork that credit card was an option. Upon additional questioning it turns out that they grudgingly do accept a credit card, but then charge $5 a month increase on the membership. This doesn't seem like a straight pass through of a credit card fee, as those aren't usually anywhere near 12%.
I'm also part of a small business in the area and was quite interested in looking into the corporate partnership options that were available. Fully one-quarter of the national anytime fitness page is dedicated to promoting this. However, I was told by staff that this franchise owner (was not available at the time) pretty much would not be interested. We have 10-12 employees/consultants presently and will be increasing that very shortly. So I guess they're only interested in large companies, and not the small businesses in the area where their gyms are located. This seems very at odds with the information available on the anytime fitness website.
Overall the interaction with trying to get membership was fairly poor and I really didn't feel like they wanted the business.
***Received a call back from the staff, and after talking to their boss they got a better offer together. Seems the main issue was maybe confusion between management and the staff, but perhaps I just saw them on a bad day...
