Rude staff: Chris "FIRST OF ALL what's your name?" He's mostly okay but some ghetto casual speech..curse words or _igga as in dude, baggy pants+hoody-themed young black guy. C.C. Celina (Nasty aggressive tone of voice, eye rolls-->) A lot of people work here, I don't know who you spoke to. You cant just come here. Does he KNOW you're coming here? (Yes he did). Interrupts you to chit chat with others without an excuse me or anything. 35-45 y.o. white female, ghetto speech habits and behaviors. Tattooed. Usually ratty, sometimes dressed up. Occasionally okay to speak with. About half of the staff talks down to people (and seem mentally off), half of them don't. Some employees are past clients. Staff members Brenda, Ms. Davis, and slim middle aged Hispanic guy are nice and respectful. Staff are late for appointments with clients or outright cancel appointments without notice (delays client's timeline toward move out & benefits)... not just once. Messages between staff and clients aren't sent as promised by desk staff or not in a timely manner. Confidentiality problems. Hygiene problems. Large gnats all over (decent food but left uncovered and is therefore not edible), clients coughing without covering mouths, no bathroom tissue or just 1 roll shared between 2 stalls via sitting it on the ground. That's called dirty. Report it to staff, you are told it's "not a hotel". The clients have chores but some clients are mentally ill or manipulative and lazy. If they are supposed to stock the bathroom and don't then the paid staff should do so. Possibly safe enough but loud, wild inconsiderate types, mutes, male-to- female harrassment, bullies, or insane people. It's not for those simply coming out of a temporary $ pinch who are respectful, respectable, working, clean, etc. If you work nights get ready for sass about coming in after curfew although you've provided documentation about your job type. No mouthwash, no nail files, no pills unless given to staff first to be dispensed to you under supervision..as if everyone in need of assistance is a violent alcoholic drug user. Can't keep it in your car...subject to search if on property. Computer usage is limited to 20 minutes. Some job applications take well over 20 minutes so good luck with that. The food is good quality real food...not bologna sandwiches. Bed springs are felt right at the surface, rooms are freezing cold. They only eventually tell you about financial help and case worker gives opposite info of (knowledgeable, informative) supervisor. But apparently assistance with a couple months of rent is possible...if you can tolerate all the B.S. long enough. General clenliness of facility is 6 out of 10. Staff behaviors 6/10. Client behaviors 4/10. Potential resources: 8/10. A few clients loiter outside, joke, gossip instead of looking for work. The Lamb Center is far cleaner and friendlier and you are treated like a regular person. But it's mostly just a shower, laundry, nice meal...plus prayer if you want. Free help is great but it should be done with a pure heart and respect given should = respect returned and dignity should be maintained. You report something up chain of command since lower staff didn't help and you weren't given contact info for mid-level staff... lower staff will criticize you. The higher staff (Jimmy and Lorena) seem good.
