Charlottesville Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

I started training at C'ville BJJ last August and it has been a wonderful experience! There is high quality instruction for all experience levels. Gordon puts a lot of emphasis on proper technique and this attention permeates throughout the gym. Training partners are encouraging and supportive, frequently offering me helpful tips or practicing new moves with me. I couldn't ask for a better learning environment. If you have any interest in martial arts, this place is a must-visit!

If you are not physically fit, young, or a natural athlete, you should STILL come try out this gym. As an out of shape older woman, I had to face some serious mental roadblocks to enter this gym and keep coming back but you will find a really nice, accepting family here of all types of shapes, sizes, and strengths. Cville BJJ pushes me way harder than I ever push myself as a natural couch potato but it has also made me feel stronger than I ever thought I could and let me meet just a really nice group of people. I hate working out but I really do love this place and the people here.

Traveling for work and was looking for a place to train. I contacted them ahead of time and they was very friendly and invited me to stop in for a $20 day pass (the also have a week pass). The dojo was nice and tons of mat space. They needed it, class was huge. The had they split the white belts from the upper belts and basically had two classes, one basics and one more advanced. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and great to train with. Head instructor/resident black belt /proprietor(?) Gordon Emery taught well and was easy to follow with good details and tweaking of technique. Whether you live nearby or are traveling, if you are looking for a place to train, I highly recommend you check out Charlottesville Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu .
