Dr. Kavanagh is typically ranked highly, I believe, for his engaging "Irish" personality, that he certainly points out to you himself. (Yes, I am Irish as well.) He told me that I need to have a screw that was coming loose removed; this was by another surgeon. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, THAT DR. KAVANAGH ONLY SPECIALIZES IN HIP AND SHOULD SURGERIES. When I saw him for my post-op visit, I asked him for a refill on a muscle relaxant that his PA had subscribed for me. When a PA subscribes, the doctor's name is used on an RX. He looked at the bottle and said "I have never prescribed this drug in MY LIFE!! Who prescribed this for you? I told him that it was his PA, which would have easily been found in documented notes, had he looked at them! How RUDE could he have been? He intimated that I got the drug from another practice. I TAKE ISSUE WHEN A DOCTOR TREATS ME LIKE THAT AND WILL NEVER RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE. FINALLY, after the surgery, I started experiencing pain in my foot that I never had pre-op. Dr. Kavanagh KNEW that my foot had NOT fused properly, but just before I went out after the anesthesia, a resident (who actually removed the screw) pulled down on my toes, putting excessive strain on the area that had not fused properly. Dr. Kavanagh obviously had not brought him up to speed on the condition of my foot. Is he a 5 STAR surgeon, NO!!
