Although I love the infra-red lights and high-technology filtering system of the pools, I was shocked to learn that this facility was non-compliant with Fairfax County Health Code rules in posting signage leaving both the menmen's and women's locker rooms as well as at the entrance of both pools. The Health Department requires a soap-shower upon entering the pools. I managed to get this implemented by contacting the Health Department. Unfortunately, I noticed most of the swimmers using the club did not shower, and often I could smell unwashed hair or strong body odor in spite of the infra-red lighting, used to take away odors. I also noticed some older men going straight from the sauna sweaty attempting to jump directly into the pool without first taking a shower. It's disgusting how many people use these pools as their own personal bathtub. I've never witnessed a lifeguard engaging the public to take a shower. Also, the pools are rented out to the point it is difficult finding a lap lane to yourself between 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm. Making more money at the expense of providing enough open lanes for lap swimmers unfortunately appears to be a priority. When I felt sexually harassed by one older male swimmer, I was told by the manager, he felt the behavior from that member was unintentional, and that he would not be doing anything further unless something happens again. I requested that this individual not swim either in my lane or in the two lanes on either side of me if our paths crossed. The behavior of management at this facility strongly needs some educational updating.
