Just read some of the negative comments about Oak Lake and wanted to share my recent experience. My apartment was flooded by a broken water pipe one afternoon last week. Maintenance personnel, including the new Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor and multiple Maintenance Techs were here immediately to secure the water cutoff and check for damage. They agreed the carpet was going to have to be replaced and provided a crew of about six guys to move all of my furniture to another apartment they were getting ready to rent. They started vacuuming the water up and got a contractor in that same evening to help remove the water and set up fans and moisture removal equipment to dry my apartment out. New carpet was installed and the water stained baseboard repainted.
I was able to stay at my Son's house for two nights. Due to out of town guest that were coming to visit him, I didn't have a place to stay Thursday night, so Oak Lake put me up in a nice motel. The next morning the six man crew was back to move my furniture back into my apartment.
Turn-around time was 3-1/2 days, most of which was spent removing moisture from the apartment.
So I don't think the recent low ratings are necessarily deserved. Kara, the new Manager, is correcting problems as quickly as she can and Oak Lake is getting back to normal.
