I called them at about 9am to ask about wait times to have my vehicle checked. Bill told me that he could most likely have my car looked at by at least 2pm, so i agreed to leave it as I had to be to work at 5pm. I also asked for an oil change.
By 3:00 in the afternoon I had not heard anything from them, called and was told my car had not even been looked at yet, and was told they would call me back in about 45 minutes to let me know. Around 4:30 no one had called me so I contacted them and was first told my problem was non-existent. (Why would I have taken it in if there wasn't a problem?) then was told that my power steering fluid was leaking through a bad tie rod gasket. So, naturally they wanted to replace the ENTIRE steering rack for a hefty price of about $1300 (On a 13 year old car? Really?) and proceeded to charge me $73 for doing absolutely nothing but confirming what I told them when I dropped it off. Then said it was a 4+ hour job either way and would cost 1k anywhere. WRONG!! Needless to say I didn't make it to work either.
I went to B Automotive off Va Beach Blvd and explained my situation and getting an estimate from repair pal, they quoted me a price of $369 TOTAL for labor hours an the part. The part was $158 and the labor $211. He guaranteed to have it done by tomorrow afternoon. Seriously, don't trust Protime, they just want your money in exchange for a headache.
