I'll start out by saying that the sales people that I dealt with were very polite however, my problem is with the company policy. On Dec 24th I bought a gift certificate for a friend for a pair of sunglasses that Sunglass Hut showed were available locally and online. The purchase went smoothly however Sunglass Hut does not post their policy concerning gift cards anywhere in view, on the counters or by the registers, and the sales person never mentioned that gift cards could not be refunded.
After my friend could not get the sunglasses, because they were not available, I went back to the store and spoke with Jessica on Dec 27th. I was then told that that particular pair of sunglasses were out of stock, not available anywhere in the area and not only could they not be transferred in but they were not available online either.
After I was unsuccessful trying to locate the item through Sunglass Hut I ended up purchasing them through Sunglass Shack thinking that I could just return the gift card and have a credit applied to my credit card. However, when I returned to Sunglass Hut later on the 27th I spoke to another employee who did not know the return policy concerning gift cards. She attempted to refund my gift card without success because the computer wouldn't allow her to do it. It was at this time that I read in small letters on the back of the receipt that gift cards could not be returned and I was told that I would need to contact customer service.
Besides the problem of their gift card return policy not being posted and the sales person not stating it at the time of the sale I have a huge problem with the policy being printed, on the back of the receipt, which you're not going to see until you've already made the purchase and it's to late.
It's funny how Sunglass Hut advertises an "easy return policy, just bring back your sunglasses in original condition for a full refund" but you can't get a refund on a gift card and they don't tell you in advance. I'll post a new review after I contact customer service.
