This was a great experience! I visited Sun’s Day Spa after doing some basic research on what to expect at a Korean spa. My bestie and I loved it! We spent about three hours there. Our appointments (treatment number 3) were at 5pm but we arrived a little before 4pm. If you are going for the first time, I would recommend you do the same. This gave us plenty of time to strip down, shower, soak, and relax in the sauna, steam room, and hot lava room. Most importantly, it gave us time to get used to being completely and openly naked. There is no privacy except for the fact that no one cares about being naked, so we stopped caring too. I thought I would be mortified and judged for being overweight, but no one cared at all.
Now for the scrub down…My friend and I laid on a padded slab and two ladies that work there got to work. They scrubbed us painlessly removing dead skin. It came off in large gray clumps. Its gross and I get that, but now my skin has never felt softer. After they scrubbed us down, they told us to take a shower. We laid back down and they washed and rinsed us again, covered us in hot towels, moisturized our skin with warm honey, milk, and oil. They placed real cucumber on our faces and washed and conditioned our hair. It was magical. They wash your entire body, and yes, I mean the entire body. If you are not comfortable with that then get over it or don’t go.
The owner was a delight. She answered our questions with kind humor, checked on us throughout our visit, and even made sure we drank water. Robes, slippers, a small towel, soap, shampoo, conditioner, combs, qtips, lotion and blowdryer are provided. This isn’t the Ritz, but it was a fantastic experience and we will go again.
