I'm not one to complain, but people should beware of this company lest they be caught off guard by a $150 charge. I had been planning to call a heating/AC company to look at a wall unit in my sunroom that didn't seem to be working correctly. Woke up one morning and saw TJ Fannon and Sons at my neighbors house. So I called their office and asked if they could stop over at my house when their crew was finished at my neighbors. They said they could, and I appreciated their flexibility. The two technicians came over and within about 10 minutes determined that the only possible remedy for my wall unit was to completely replace it. They said they could give me an estimate when they got back to their office later that afternoon. The two techs seemed to hang around for about 15 more minutes, and I couldn't figure out why. Our conversation seemed to be covering the same ground over and over. The AC unit needed to be replaced, I got it. Finally they left, and a few days later I got a bill in the mail for $150. While I certainly expected to pay for the techs' time, this was pretty steep, and no one had mentioned this flat fee per visit when I called the office. The techs didn't mention it either. But now I understand why they loitered at my house for so long -- they wanted me to feel like I got my money's worth. Well, I don't. They were already right next door, and all they did was look at my unit and tell me they couldn't fix it and I could replace it if I wanted to. They could have been in and out in less than 10 minutes, but instead were at my house for around 25 minutes. When I called the office and politely asked if my bill could be reduced, they refused, saying $150 was a flat fee per visit, as long as the visit was less than an hour long. Apparently it's a flat fee they keep secret until they send you the bill.
My uncle is 81 & in frail health. He lives in an old house with a lot of issues. His heat went out and Fannon - - the company has been keeping the heat system going for many years - - couldn't get the system running the same day, so, in order to protect my uncle, the folks at the company collected their personal portable heaters and placed them around his living space. You can't beat that for customer service!
