This was the beginning of the 105 mile drive along the Blue Ridge Mountains on the scenic Skyline Drive with the Shenandoah National Park. Dickey Ridge Trailhead offers some guidance as well as exhibits to aid in taking advantage of all you can see and experience while visiting. The day was spectacular weather and the vista's clear and bright. Park guides are available for questions. There is a registry for wildlife sightings and as I looked thru, I observed many registers for small black bear, as well as deer, woodchuck, raccoons, and birds. Plenty of pullover spots to check out the view as well as trails to hike. I continued on drive with frequent pullovers for photos, however much can be enjoyed driving without leaving the vehicle if you desire.
Gorgeous hike with some lovely views. Did a 22-mile point-to-point run starting at the Trumbo Hollow Hike Trailhead and ending at Dickey Ridge. There's quite a bit of elevation gain, but totally worth it.
