I went in for a state inspection. I was told my windshield wipers needed to be replaced and the cost was $50. I said "$50 for windshield wipers, those should be $10". The rep told me that I would be surprised at the cost of things. Then the rep walked away and I searched my smart phone for windshield wipers and confirmed a price range of $5-$21. I went to the rep and showed him the price ranges and asked him what brand was being installed. He said he didn't know? However, he went and came back with a store brand. Quite clear that the company is gouging customers. I knew if I didn't take their wipers, I would get a red rejection sticker and have to spend the time getting a re-inspection. Costly in terms of personal time. If the company blades were really $5 (wholesale) then the charge of $50 would represent a 1000% mark-up. This is not the action of a company that touts INTEGRITY. I think their actions were largely due to two factors: I'm a female and a senior citizen..and while those two factors are true, I'm not a rube. Now, I decided not to complain, but just to take my knocks and be wiser in the future, that is: sever business ties. Today, however, the company sent me a customer satisfaction survey which I completed with the above stated information. Then, I started thinking: was my interaction unique, did other customers experience the same treatment? So I started reading through on-line comments and not only did I find the same reoccurring theme, especially where state inspections were concerned, but I also found a standard reply from Tread Quarters: which essentially states - "we regret your experience and contact US IF you want to talk". Unbelievably horrible actions followed by a shockingly revealing and truly insensitive response. And that prompted my decision to openly review this company and hopefully help others as they make a decision where to take their car. Tread Quarters, in my experience, is not what they represent themselves to be. The are not fair priced. They do not treat their customers well. They are positioned to do one thing: take advantage of their customer when and where they can. I would find it humiliating to work for such an organization. I think their employees should be ashamed of their actions. I'm not sure how they sleep at night. I went to Tread Quarters because it was close to the mall and I wanted to get my June inspection quickly. And after all, it was ONLY an Inspection of a well-serviced newer model Honda Accord. I couldn't have been more wrong. In the future I will take all my mechanical needs to my regular mechanic: London Bridge Motor Company on Bowland Parkway. I will have to drop off the car or wait (no convenience of a mall), but I always know I will be treated honestly, fairly and with respect. And because of my experience with Tread Quarters, I am ever more mindful of the value of those qualities. I can have my vehicle serviced without wondering if everything that is being done really needs to be done or being concerned about being overcharged. I know I can trust London Bridge Motor Company. I truly regret my decision to do business with Tread Quarters. And I'm writing this assessment not to do harm to the company, but to advise and protect any potential customers. Be wise. Think twice.
