Monk's BBQ

My S.O. & I pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, corn bread, smoked mushrooms (which were a special), & lemonade. While the pork itself was phenomenal, none of the BBQ Sauces were very good -most were very vinegar-y, so if you like that, you'll probably love them. I wish their were other options for people who like savory or sweet sauces too. All the other food was exceptionally tasty. The lemonade was too sugary, with no tartness to balance it. I wouldn't given the place 5 stars, except the prices were a little high & for the service/friendliness.. I can't even say the service wasn't good -it's non-existent. Being our first time, we waited near the door for the person who was neatening up to either come seat us, tell us they'd get someone else, tell us to seat ourselves, acknowledge our existence, *anything*! After standing there being ignored (along with a larger party who came in right behind us) we eventually just walked up & put our order in. When we ordered drinks, no one handed us cups with ice, or even indicated that we could help ourselves OR where to get the drinks (at the end of the counter in one of those big stainless dispensers that coffee is usually served out of). While we were eating, someone who obviously is known there got a huge welcome, so they're clearly capable of being friendly.. I guess they just don't want new business. Next time we crave BBQ, we're going to go check out Smokin' Wllie's & see if it's any better.

What a great place this is .. to meet up with friends and family .. to grab some great food and drinks, or maybe you just want to stop by for a small meal or take-out. The service is friendly, knowledgeable and treats you like family. This is the West VA version of Cheers, I might say .. When I was there we ordered the smoked chicken wings ... really, really good.
